About Me

Amelia Farr is a dance artist from Boise, Idaho pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Dance at the University of Idaho. With a passion in anatomy and understanding the functions of the body through movement, Amelia explores the intersection of science and dance in both her training and choreographic work.

Her dance training began in 2018 at Motions Dance Studio in Meridian, Idaho, where she trained in various styles and competed as part of the studio’s highest competition team. During her six years as a competitive dancer, she performed at competitions including Spotlight Dance Cup, America on Stage, and Axis Dance Competition.

Since moving to Moscow for her studies, Amelia has been a member of the University of Idaho Dance Ensemble (UIDE) for two years working with choreographers Melanie Meenan, Rhea Speights, Belle Baggs, and guest choreographers Samual Hobbs and Juan Carlos Claudio. She also currently serves as treasurer for the university’s performance and fundraising club, Terpsichore Student Dance Organization. Her choreographic work includes studies on Laban Movement Analysis and postmodern dance structures as well as competitive styles of jazz, lyrical, and acro.

In addition to her collegiate work, Amelia works as an acro teacher during the summer at Motions Dance Studio, teaching students ages 5-16 safe acrobatic practices and integration of acro elements into choreographing. She has also expanded her training through intensives including Dance West, working with artists Norbert De La Cruz, Leslie Kraus, and Bashaun Williams, and Summer Dance Fest with Idaho Dance Theatre.

Currently, Amelia’s primary training is in modern and ballet, with experience in acro, hip hop, and tap. As a University of Idaho scholarship recipient, she strives to continue learning about the body through movement and hopes to continue her love of science through dance and education.
